Hello!

I'm Catherine Kwon, a Korean-American illustrator and artist based in Southern California. I use watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate program to connect with the world.

I create art that brings comfort, courage, and laughter to people, especially children.

The year I first immigrated to the United States, I was bullied at school because of language and cultural differences, and at the time I felt like the least courageous person in the world. Then I happened to see the tiniest family of Harvest mice on television, and the way they nested and slept in a tennis ball was so adorable that I started creating and drawing the characters of Lynne and John, brother and sister mice. It was healing to see them overcome adversity and fit into the world, even though they were so small.

Since then, I've created two books in the Lynne and John series, which are not yet published, but I'm still working on them, hoping to draw inspiration from how small, helpless mice can survive in a big world.

I hope my artwork can inspire and encourage people and bring joy and laughter into their lives, as I've come to realize that everyone carries hurts and sadness in their hearts, and everyone needs comfort, laughter, and courage.

Thank you for visiting my page!
